Sidecar is an internal tool Yoonet runs for its own staff. This page explains what it reads and keeps.
What Sidecar reads
When you open an email thread in Gmail, Sidecar reads the subject and the hidden Message ID of each email in it. It uses Google's metadata permission, which cannot see the body of any email or its attachments. The Message ID is what lets notes on the same email join up across different people's inboxes.
What Sidecar keeps
- Your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account.
- The notes you write and when you wrote them.
- The subject of each thread that has notes.
- A one way scrambled copy (a hash) of each email's Message ID. The original is never stored.
Sidecar never stores email bodies, attachments or your Google password, and never shares your data outside Yoonet. Notes are stored in a database in Singapore.
Who can see notes
You see the notes on an email once that email is in your own inbox. Sidecar administrators can see every note in the organisation. Nobody outside Yoonet sees notes.
Google data
Sidecar's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
